You will probably like woody if you enjoy
Casks are made from oak. American oak gives vanilla and coconut. European oak gives spice and a drier taste.
Coopers heat the inside of each cask. Light toast gives vanilla. A deep char gives caramel and smoke.
The longer whisky stays in the cask, the more wood it picks up. Bourbon uses new casks, so it is woody from the start.
Whiskies with woody as their main flavour.
From sweet and creamy to dry and charred. Most woody whiskies have a bit of both.
Vanilla pod and custard
Toasted coconut flakes
Freshly cut oak, soft and sweet
Golden, sticky caramel
Toasted wood, like the inside of a barrel
Pencil shavings and cigar box
Warm, perfumed wood
Charred barrel, a hint of smoke

Most whiskies have a second flavour. Pick one and see what woody turns into.
Like vanilla ice cream with a dusting of cinnamon.
