Facts

Wild Turkey Longbranch starts with eight-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon. Then it takes an unusual detour. The spirit passes through two separate charcoal filters. First American white oak, then Texas mesquite. That second pass is the distinctive step. It softens the edges without stripping the character. What you get is warm caramel and brown sugar upfront. Oak and a touch of allspice follow close behind. Peach and citrus lift the mid-palate. The finish is long and dry with a gentle heat. Pour it neat and let it open.

Wild Turkey

Wild Turkey Distillery, located in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, has a rich heritage that spans over 150 years. Wild Turkey has established itself as a prominent name in the world of American whiskey. Nestled along the Kentucky River, the distillery showcases a picturesque setting that adds to the charm of its whisky production. The pristine limestone-filtered water sourced from the river and the region's unique climate contribute to the distinct flavours found in Wild Turkey bourbons. The Wild Turkey Distillery is that it has maintained its traditional production methods throughout its history. The whiskey is crafted using a high proportion of corn in the mash bill, aged in new charred oak barrels, and undergoes a longer-than-average maturation period. Wild Turkey bourbons are celebrated for their bold and robust flavours. The flagship expression, Wild Turkey 101, offers a balance of sweet caramel, vanilla, and oak with a spicy kick. It exemplifies the distillery's commitment to producing full-bodied bourbons with a higher alcohol content. Other expressions, such as Wild Turkey Rare Breed and Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit, showcase a range of complex flavors including rich dark fruit, toasted nuts, and hints of cinnamon and clove. Each bourbon is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to preserving the distillery's heritage.

About the Wild Turkey Longbranch

Wild Turkey Longbranch is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Wild Turkey. The distillery is one of the most celebrated in the United States. This expression is bottled at 43% ABV and aged for eight years in charred new oak barrels. After ageing, it undergoes a two-step charcoal filtration. First the spirit passes through American white oak charcoal. Then it passes through Texas mesquite charcoal. No other expression in the Wild Turkey range uses this double-filter process. Wild Turkey has been distilling in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky since the 1940s. Master distiller Eddie Russell carries on a tradition started by his father, the legendary Jimmy Russell. This bottling is the first Wild Turkey release to bear a signature outside the Russell family. Matthew McConaughey joined as creative director and helped shape the Longbranch concept alongside Eddie Russell. The result is a bourbon that sits between the distillery's classic style and something subtly new. The nose opens with caramel and brown sugar. A buttery richness follows close behind. There are softer hints of fresh fruit and a faint floral note beneath the surface. On the palate, oak and allspice take shape alongside notes of peach and orange peel. The malty cereal character keeps the sweeter notes in check. Burnt sugar and a thread of clove build into a long, dry finish. Wild Turkey Longbranch suits drinkers who want real depth at an approachable proof. Pour it neat and give it a minute. The mesquite filtration has already done the work of softening the spirit. There is no need to add water. It holds together well from first sip to last, and the finish lingers longer than you might expect.
