Facts

Glenfiddich Project XX started as a group experiment, not a routine release. Malt Master Brian Kinsman invited 20 whisky experts to choose standout casks, then married their picks into one single malt. That approach gives the whisky a layered character that keeps changing in the glass. You notice clove, pear, and gentle oak first, then richer notes of dried fruit and burnt sugar. A nutty thread runs through it and keeps everything grounded. It feels lively, slightly wild, and still unmistakably Glenfiddich. Project XX is the kind of bottle that rewards slow sipping and close attention.

About the distillery

Distillery

Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich is a Scotch whisky distillery located in Dufftown, Scotland. Founded in 1887, it is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family-owned and operated to this day. The distillery is situated in a picturesque valley next to the River Fiddich, with water flowing from the nearby Robbie Dhu spring providing a key ingredient in the whisky production process. Glenfiddich uses traditional copper pot stills to distill its whisky, which is aged in oak casks for a minimum of three years before bottling. In 1963, Glenfiddich introduced the world's first single malt whisky to be marketed outside of Scotland, helping to kickstart the global popularity of single malts.

About the Glenfiddich Project XX

Glenfiddich Project XX is a single malt Scotch whisky from Glenfiddich in Speyside, Scotland. It sits in the Experimental Series and shows Glenfiddich in a more exploratory style. The whisky was built through collaboration, not one blender working alone. Whisky.com reports Malt Master Brian Kinsman worked with 20 whisky experts on this release. Each expert selected preferred casks, then the team married them into one bottling. That production story helps explain why Glenfiddich Project XX feels layered from first sip to finish. You get fresh pear and lychee early, then cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. Malt sweetness follows with vanilla, caramel, and hints of burnt sugar. A gentle sherry note carries dried fruit, fig, and light tobacco through the mid palate. A meaty cereal note appears underneath and adds extra weight. Oak and hazelnut keep the profile grounded, while floral notes lift it. Glenfiddich has long been a gateway distillery for people exploring single malt Scotch whisky. This release keeps that accessibility but adds more spice and wood structure. At 47% ABV and non chill filtered, it keeps texture and a fuller mouthfeel. Because the components came from many casks, the flavour moves in stages. Glenfiddich Project XX suits drinkers who want classic Speyside fruit with added depth. It is also a strong gift choice for whisky fans who enjoy distinctive releases. For searchers comparing Glenfiddich bottles, Glenfiddich Project XX offers a clear point of difference. The cask selection process gives this Speyside single malt a memorable identity. Glenfiddich combines orchard fruit, baking spice, and oaky sweetness in a balanced style. It works for newcomers and seasoned palates without feeling simplified. Serve it neat to follow the shift from sweet malt to drying oak. If you enjoy expressive Scottish whisky, this bottle is a reliable next step.
