Mackmyra is a Swedish whisky distillery located in Gävle, Sweden. It was founded in 1999 by a group of friends who shared a passion for whisky and a desire to create a unique Scandinavian whisky. Mackmyra produces a range of single malt whiskies that are made using locally sourced Swedish barley and other Scandinavian ingredients, such as lingonberries and juniper. Their core range includes expressions like the Mackmyra Svensk Ek, which is aged in Swedish oak casks, and the Mackmyra Brukswhisky, which is matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry and Swedish oak casks. One interesting fact about Mackmyra is that they use a gravity-fed distillery, which means that the entire distilling process is done using gravity instead of pumps. This unique method of distillation is said to help preserve the natural flavours of the whisky and create a smoother, more complex spirit.
