Facts

Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman partnered with Speyside craft brewer Seb Jones to pioneer something new. They brewed a bespoke IPA, matured it in casks, then filled those same casks with Glenfiddich single malt. The result is a whisky that carries the hop character of craft beer into a Speyside spirit. Fresh apple and pear come first. Then citrus and a green, floral lift from the hops. A thread of honey and malt runs underneath. It is easy to drink neat and genuinely unlike anything else the distillery has made.

About the distillery

Distillery

Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich is a Scotch whisky distillery located in Dufftown, Scotland. Founded in 1887, it is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family-owned and operated to this day. The distillery is situated in a picturesque valley next to the River Fiddich, with water flowing from the nearby Robbie Dhu spring providing a key ingredient in the whisky production process. Glenfiddich uses traditional copper pot stills to distill its whisky, which is aged in oak casks for a minimum of three years before bottling. In 1963, Glenfiddich introduced the world's first single malt whisky to be marketed outside of Scotland, helping to kickstart the global popularity of single malts.

About the Glenfiddich IPA Cask

Glenfiddich IPA Cask is a single malt Scotch whisky born from an unlikely collaboration in Speyside, Scotland. Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman worked with local craft brewer Seb Jones to brew a bespoke IPA from scratch. Those beer casks were then used to finish the whisky, passing hop oils and citrus character straight into the spirit. The finishing period is relatively short, preserving the distillery character beneath the new influence. The result is a Speyside single malt with a genuinely different edge. Fresh apple and ripe pear dominate the opening. Lemon pith and floral notes follow, driven by the aromatic hops left behind in the cask. A faint piney resin note adds depth without overwhelming the fruit. There is a base of malty cereal and honey that keeps the whisky grounded and distinctly Speyside. The finish is medium in length, clean, and gently bitter from the hops. Glenfiddich has been distilling in the Speyside valley since 1887 and remains family owned to this day. Its Experimental Series challenges the distillery's own house style without abandoning it. The IPA Cask sits firmly in that spirit: recognisably Glenfiddich. But with an unfamiliar green, hoppy lift that sets it apart from any standard expression. Each batch is crafted to maintain consistency across the range. The Glenfiddich IPA Cask is bottled at 43% ABV. It drinks cleanly neat, letting the interplay between hop character and orchard fruit come through without distraction. Pour it at room temperature and let it settle for a moment before the first sip.
