Facts

The Major redesigned Glen Grant's stills with tall necks and purifiers, chasing a lighter, fruitier spirit than his Speyside neighbours. The trick still works. Orchard fruits and honey lead, with green apple and lemon cutting through cream and vanilla. Toffee sweetness lingers on a nutty, gently spicy finish. Glen Grant built a Victorian garden beside the distillery, and the whisky carries that same bright, open character. It drinks easily neat, more refreshing than demanding, and leaves you curious about what another decade in cask might add.

About the distillery

Distillery

Glen Grant

Glen Grant distillery is located in the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery was founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant. The distillery uses water from the Caperdonich Well, which is located on the estate, and the barley is sourced from local farms. Glen Grant was purchased by the Italian company Campari Group in December 2005. It is the biggest selling single malt Scotch whisky in Italy. The whisky is distilled in tall, slender stills which produces a light and fruity spirit. Glen Grant produces both peated and unpeated whisky, with the unpeated variety being the most commonly found. The whisky is aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, which gives it its distinctive flavour profile.

About the Glen Grant 10 years

Glen Grant 10 years is a single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside in Scotland. Glen Grant matures this expression in hand-selected ex-bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. The spirit passes through tall-necked stills with purifiers that create an unusually light, floral character. Brothers John and James Grant founded the distillery in Rothes in 1840. James Grant, known as the Major, introduced the slender copper pot stills that define Glen Grant to this day. Water-cooled purifiers strip heavier compounds from the vapour during distillation. The result is a clean, apple-forward new make that ages gracefully in bourbon wood. Honey and toffee sweetness meet green apple, lemon, and floral notes on the palate. Cream and vanilla add softness without dulling the fruit. Nutty undertones and a touch of spice carry through to a satisfying finish. Fresh fruit flavours stay bright rather than cloying throughout the glass. The ten-year age statement brings gentle oak structure to the Major's light distillate. Sherry cask influence adds a whisper of depth behind the orchard fruit. At 40% ABV the texture feels approachable and refreshing from first sip to last. Glen Grant 10 years suits drinkers who want a gentle, fruit-led Speyside malt served neat. It offers elegance without the weight of a heavily sherried style. Newcomers and seasoned fans alike will appreciate its bright, open character. The Victorian garden beside the distillery mirrors this whisky's fresh, unhurried personality in every glass. Italy's best-selling single malt reputation rests on exactly this kind of approachable Speyside charm.
