Facts

Dalmore created The Cigar Malt Reserve for slow, contemplative drams. It leans into rich fruit and spice rather than raw power. Expect orange zest, dark chocolate, and soft leather-like warmth. There is also a thread of raisin sweetness that keeps it lively. The profile feels broad, with vanilla and cocoa moving underneath. Each sip seems built for unhurried evenings and focused attention. It invites neat pouring and patient nosing before the first taste. If you enjoy layered Highland single malts, this bottle rewards time in the glass.

About the distillery

Distillery

Dalmore

Highlands of Scotland. It was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, who saw the potential of the area's natural resources for creating high-quality whisky. The distillery produces a range of single malt whiskies, including the popular 12-year-old and 18-year-old expressions, as well as a number of limited edition releases. Dalmore is known for its rich, full-bodied whiskies with notes of citrus, chocolate, and spices. Dalmore also has a long-standing association with the Mackenzie clan, who once owned the distillery. The iconic stag's head emblem that appears on the bottles of Dalmore whisky is said to have been inspired by a legend in which the clan chief saved King Alexander III of Scotland from a charging stag, and was granted the right to use the animal's antlers as his crest as a result.

About the Dalmore The Cigar Malt Reserve

Dalmore The Cigar Malt Reserve is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Scotland. Dalmore distillery builds this expression for drinkers who want depth and structure. Dalmore The Cigar Malt Reserve sits at 44% ABV and shows a rich, fruit-led style. Many buyers search for a Highland single malt with sherry cask influence and clear sweetness. This bottle answers that search with weight, spice, and steady balance. It targets those who prefer flavour concentration over smoke-heavy intensity. According to The Dalmore, the spirit starts in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels. It is then finessed in Cabernet Sauvignon barriques and Matusalem Oloroso Sherry casks. Those casks once held 30-year-old Matusalem Oloroso, adding deeper dried-fruit character. That layered maturation gives Dalmore distillery a clear signature in this release. The official house style aims for body and structure without losing aromatic lift. In the glass, orange zest rises first, followed by vanilla and red fruit. The palate brings tropical fruit, banana toffee, and cocoa-toned sweetness. A dark chocolate edge and crushed spice notes shape the finish. You also notice sherry richness, raisin tones, and a gentle oak frame. It drinks very well neat, where the texture stays full and focused. With extra air, citrus oil and soft leather warmth become easier to notice. For buyers comparing premium Highland single malt Scotch whisky, this release offers a distinctive profile. Dalmore The Cigar Malt Reserve works as an ideal gift for whisky lovers. Collectors choose Dalmore The Cigar Malt Reserve when they want a modern Dalmore benchmark. It suits slow evening pours and rewards careful nosing before each sip. If you enjoy sherry, chocolate, citrus, and oak, this bottle is a reliable choice. It stays approachable while still feeling suitably complex for special-occasion pours.
