Knockdhu 24 years anCnoc is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from Scotland. It is aged for two and a half decades in oak casks. This puts it among the more mature expressions available from the region. Knockdhu distillery was founded in 1894 in Banffshire. The site was chosen for its barley fields, peat, fresh springs, and a nearby railway line. The brand name anCnoc comes from the Gaelic for the hill. It refers to the Black Hill rising above the distillery. This gives it an unusual distinction: the whisky is named after the landscape, not the building that produces it. Inver House Distillers acquired Knockdhu in 1988. They preserved the two copper pot stills identical in design to the originals from 1894. Knockdhu 24 years anCnoc is bottled at 46% ABV, without colouring or chill filtration. Those choices let the spirit show its true character after more than two decades in wood. On the nose, honey, lychee, and floral notes open the glass. The palate brings caramel, dark chocolate, cocoa, cherry, and dried fruit with a hint of orange and grapefruit brightness. Oak and leather settle in as the dram develops, with malty, peppery depth giving the finish its length. The 46% ABV is well suited to a malt of this age. It gives the whisky enough grip without adding unwanted heat. Pour it neat to let the full complexity unfold. For anyone seeking a mature, well-rounded single malt Scotch whisky, Knockdhu 24 years anCnoc is a distinctive choice. The 24-year age statement reflects genuine patience. It suits both seasoned collectors and those ready to explore older expressions. A considered gift for whisky lovers who value craft over speed.
