About the Blackadder Ledaig 24 years

Blackadder Ledaig 24 Year Old is a limited single-cask whisky bottled by independent bottler Blackadder International. The spirit comes from Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, distilled in March 1997 and left in a single hogshead cask for exactly 24 years before bottling in July 2021. It is part of Statement Edition No. 46. The whisky is bottled at cask strength, at 58.2 % ABV. It is non‑chill filtered and has no added colour. The colour is pale gold. On the nose, it shows orchard fruit aromas withapple and honey, alongside light peat smoke, mineral, and subtle salty or parma‑ham notes. On the palate, the character is full and deep. Expect honey, brown sugar, soft apple, and light peat. There are woody notes and a mild sweetness that echoes after oxidation. Some tasting notes also mention wood-driven dryness and vanilla biscuits. The finish is warming and smoky, with sweetness turning to dry smoke, vanilla, dates and light oak tannins. Some reviewers note that the finish can be shorter than imagined for 24-year whisky. Blackadder's philosophy of "Cask is King" means each release is unique. This bottling is drawn from a single hogshead selected and monitored until its peak, then bottled raw with sediment intact. No chilling, no colouring. This whisky is suited to experienced drinkers who enjoy peat smoke with maritime and fruity character. A few drops of water may soften the wood notes. It remains a rare find due to its very small limited release (only 96 bottles in total).
