Facts

Wolfburn Aurora reflects the modern chapter of a very old northern distilling name. Wolfburn restarted production in Thurso and quickly built attention through clean, cask-led releases. Aurora leans into sherry influence, so you find raisin depth beside honey, vanilla, and oak. Pepper and ginger give lift through the finish. The whisky feels rich but not heavy, with fruit and spice staying in balance. Wolfburn Aurora suits drinkers who want Highland single malt with youthful energy and clear production intent.

About the distillery

Distillery

Wolfburn

Just west of Thurso, on the far north coast of Scotland, an original Wolfburn distillery opened in 1821 and grew into the largest in Caithness. It fell silent in the 1860s and lay forgotten for more than a century. In 2013 a private consortium brought the name back to life. The new distillery sits in the Highland region. About 350 metres from the old site, and draws its water from the Wolf Burn stream that gives it its name. The spirit is double distilled and bottled on site. This is the most northerly whisky distillery on the Scottish mainland. The first single malt was released globally in 2016 and quickly collected gold medals at international competitions.

About the Wolfburn Aurora

Wolfburn Aurora is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Wolfburn distillery in Scotland. Wolfburn Aurora is matured with strong sherry cask influence, giving this whisky a rich fruit-and-spice profile. Wolfburn distillery in Thurso revived the historic Wolfburn name after a long local production gap. That revival story gives the brand a distinctive place within modern Highland whisky. Wolfburn Aurora opens with honey, vanilla, and pear, then moves into sherry, raisin, and salted caramel notes. Oak and peppery spice add grip, while citrus and ginger keep the palate lively. The finish carries clove and nutmeg with steady warmth. Search traffic for this bottle often includes terms like sherried Highland single malt and Wolfburn whisky review. Wolfburn Aurora answers those queries with clear flavour markers and a strong distillery narrative. The whisky balances fruity sweetness with oak structure, so it feels richer than many entry Highland malts. It remains approachable, but still offers enough depth for repeat tasting. For buying intent, Wolfburn Aurora is a reliable choice for drinkers exploring newer Scottish distilleries with character. Wolfburn appears clearly in both story and flavour profile, which helps product recognition online. Serve Wolfburn Aurora neat to follow honey, sherry, and spice across the palate. Wolfburn Aurora also works well as a gift for whisky fans interested in modern revival distilleries. Interest also stays strong because the bottle links modern craft momentum with clear flavour identity. Wolfburn distillery reinforces that message, while Wolfburn Aurora keeps sherry and spice in steady balance. That profile helps the whisky stand out in Highland single malt comparisons. Collectors value that clarity in modern Highland releases. It keeps a focused Highland identity.
