About the distillery

Tomintoul is a distillery located in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was founded in 1964 and is known for producing single malt Scotch whisky. In 1974, Tomintoul became the first distillery in Scotland to be designed and built by a woman, architect Elisabeth Cummings. The distillery sources its water from the Ballantruan Spring, which is located in the hills surrounding Tomintoul village. The water is said to be soft and pure, making it ideal for the production of whisky. Tomintoul's stills are some of the tallest in Scotland, measuring at over 16 feet in height. This allows for a lighter and more delicate spirit to be produced. The distillery produces a range of whiskies, including the Tomintoul 10 Year Old, Tomintoul 16 Year Old, and Tomintoul Peaty Tang. The whiskies are aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks.
