Rowan's Creek is a Kentucky straight bourbon whisky crafted by Willett Distillery in Bardstown, United States. The distillery sits on grounds where a creek named for Kentucky statesman John Rowan has flowed since the late 1700s. Willett hand-bottles this small-batch bourbon at 100.1 proof, blending whisky from barrels aged five to fifteen years. The mash bill of 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% malted barley creates a balanced foundation. Rich butterscotch and caramel notes open the experience, followed by black pepper spice and dried fruit complexity. The Rowan's Creek name honors both the natural spring that feeds the distillery and John Rowan himself. His mansion reportedly inspired Stephen Foster's My Old Kentucky Home. This connection to Kentucky history runs as deep as the limestone geology beneath Bardstown. New charred American oak barrels impart vanilla and oak flavours without overwhelming the grain character. Anise and cinnamon spices emerge alongside orange citrus notes, while the malty backbone provides structure. Peanut and apricot hints add depth to the mid-palate. Clove and herbal notes linger on a long, warming finish. Rowan's Creek drinks beautifully neat, allowing the full spectrum of flavours to develop on the palate. The hand-bottled presentation reflects Willett's small-batch philosophy. Fans of bold Kentucky bourbon appreciate its balance of sweetness, spice and oak at a approachable price. The wide barrel age range gives each batch depth and complexity. Rowan's Creek rewards patient sipping with evolving layers of spice and sweetness. Willett's careful barrel selection ensures every batch delivers its signature character.
