Facts

Redbreast teamed up with Bodegas Lustau, a respected sherry house in Jerez, Spain. The whisky first matures for around nine to twelve years in Ireland. Then it rests a final year in sherry butts seasoned by Lustau. That last stage builds a rich, layered character you can taste. Look for dried fruit, fig and date, with brown sugar and milk chocolate. A little cinnamon and oak give it real backbone. The single pot still spirit stays oily and full on the tongue. Pour it neat and let the sherry sweetness slowly unfold. It rewards an unhurried glass.

Redbreast

The name Redbreast goes back to 1912, when a Dublin spirits merchant in Ireland first sold a whisky under that label. The chairman of Gilbey's was a keen birdwatcher, and he named it after the robin redbreast. It is one of the more charming origin stories in Irish whisky. Today Redbreast is made at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland. It is a single pot still whisky, a style historically unique to Ireland. The mash blends both malted and unmalted barley, and the spirit is distilled three times in copper pot stills. That unmalted barley gives the whisky its signature creamy texture and spicy bite. Maturation happens in both American bourbon casks and European sherry casks, which adds a nutty, fruity depth. Redbreast is the best-selling single pot still Irish whisky in the world.

About the Redbreast Lustau Edition

Redbreast Lustau Edition is a single pot still Irish whisky made at the New Midleton Distillery in Ireland. Redbreast is one of the best known single pot still whisky names in the world. This bottling tells a story of two countries and two crafts. The spirit first matures for roughly nine to twelve years in bourbon and sherry casks. Then it travels a different path. It spends a final year in first-fill sherry butts seasoned with Bodegas Lustau sherry. Lustau is a celebrated bodega based in Jerez, in southern Spain. That extra year deepens the colour and the fruit. Midleton sits in County Cork and is the home of Irish pot still whisky. The pot still style mixes malted and unmalted barley in one mash. This gives the spirit its creamy, oily weight and gentle spice. It is a method long tied to Ireland and its distilling history. Today Midleton produces many of Ireland's best known pot still whiskies. In the glass, Redbreast Lustau Edition leans warm and generous. The sherry influence brings dried fruit, fig and date to the fore. Around them sit caramel, brown sugar and soft milk chocolate. Apple and honey lift the sweeter notes higher. Cinnamon and oak add grip, while a fruity, malty core holds it all together. The texture stays smooth, rounded and gently warming. The whisky is bottled at 46% and is not chill filtered. That keeps its texture rich and its flavours intact. Enjoy this Irish whisky neat in a simple glass. Give it a few quiet minutes and the sherry layers keep opening.
