About the distillery

Distillery

Longmorn

Longmorn is a Scottish distillery located in the Speyside region, near the town of Elgin. It was founded in 1894 by John Duff, who had previously managed the Glenlossie distillery. It is said that the distillery is said to have been built in just one year, which was an impressive feat for the time. Longmorn is known for producing single malt whisky, which is known for its rich and complex flavors. The water used in the production of Longmorn whisky comes from local springs, which are fed by the nearby Burnside and Chapeltown Hills. The barley used in the whisky is sourced from Moray and the surrounding regions, and is malted on site. Longmorn also has its own cooperage, where casks are crafted for aging the whisky. Longmorn whisky is aged in a combination of American oak and European oak casks, which impart different flavors to the spirit. The whisky is aged for a minimum of 12 years, with some expressions being aged for up to 25 years or more.
