Knockando
Knockando is a Scotch whisky distillery located in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was founded in 1898 and is named after the village of Knockando, which means "little black hill" in Gaelic. The distillery produces a range of single malt whiskies, including their signature Knockando 12 Year Old, which is a smooth and well-balanced whisky with notes of honey, vanilla, and oak. Knockando whiskies are made using traditional methods, including double distillation in copper pot stills and aging in oak casks. The distillery is known for using a high proportion of first-fill bourbon casks, which impart a sweet and fruity flavour to the whisky. One interesting fact about Knockando is that the distillery has a unique water source, which is a natural spring that runs through a bed of granite. This granite bed acts as a natural filter, providing pure and mineral-rich water that is essential for making high-quality whisky.
