Kinahan's
On Trinity Street in Dublin, Ireland, a whisky house called Kinahan's first opened its doors in 1779. It grew into one of Ireland's most respected names. It earned a royal warrant in 1845 and became one of the first whisky brands ever trademarked. Irish whisky sales collapsed in the early twentieth century, and the Kinahan family eventually stopped production altogether. The name went quiet for decades until 2014, when it relaunched on the same Trinity Street address where it began. Today Kinahan's signature release matures in a single cask built from five different woods at once. Portuguese, American, French, and Hungarian oak sit alongside chestnut in that single cask. The brand calls it the Hybrid Cask method, said to be a first for Irish whisky.
