Facts

Jura Superstition carries an ancient Ankh cross on its bottle. The symbol means good luck across Scotland's western isles. Islanders cup it in their palm for fortune. The whisky itself plays a quiet trick. Most of it stays unpeated and gentle. A small slice of heavily peated malt slips in underneath. That gives a soft curl of smoke. The honey and toffee never get buried. Some of that peated spirit aged for years first. The result tastes warm and spiced, not heavy. Pour it neat and let the brine and barley settle in.

About the distillery

Distillery

Jura

Jura is a distillery located on the Isle of Jura, off the west coast of Scotland. It was founded in 1810, but ceased production in the 1900s. In 1963, it was rebuilt and reopened, and has been producing whisky ever since. The distillery produces a range of single malt whiskies, including the Jura 10 Year Old, Jura 16 Year Old, and Jura 21 Year Old. These whiskies are aged in a variety of casks, including ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, giving them a range of flavors and aromas. Jura uses locally sourced barley and water from the nearby Loch a'Bhaile-Mhargaidh in its whisky production. The distillery has its own malting floor and still house, allowing for complete control over the production process.

About the Jura Superstition

Jura Superstition is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Island region of Scotland. The Jura distillery sits alone on a remote Hebridean island off Scotland's west coast. This expression hides a clever twist inside the bottle. Most of the spirit in Jura Superstition is unpeated and soft. A small portion of heavily peated malt is blended in underneath. That smoky slice makes up only a fraction of the whole. Some of it was aged for many years before bottling. The long maturation softens the peat. The result feels gentle rather than fierce. It is a fine way to meet smoky whisky without the bonfire. The name comes from an old island belief. The bottle wears an ancient Ankh cross, a symbol of good luck in the western isles. Locals are said to hold it in the palm for fortune. The design nods to the mysterious stories that surround this place. It gives the whisky a charm beyond the liquid itself. Pour a measure and the sweetness leads first. Honey and caramel coat the tongue early on. Warm cinnamon and toasted barley follow close behind. A thread of coastal brine keeps everything lively. A faint smoke and bright citrus round out the finish. The texture stays smooth and lightly spiced throughout. It is comforting and easy to return to. This Island single malt rewards slow, unhurried sipping. The Jura distillery built its name on approachable, characterful whisky. It serves the only village on its windswept island. Drink Jura Superstition neat to taste every layer. The expression suits both curious newcomers and seasoned malt drinkers alike.
