Glenmorangie

Glenmorangie is a Scottish whisky distillery located in Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland. Founded in 1843, it is one of the older distilleries in Scotland. The distillery is known for producing single malt whisky using barley and pure spring water from the Tarlogie Springs, located on the distillery grounds. Glenmorangie's signature style is characterized by its light and delicate flavours. The distillery produces a variety of single malt whiskies, including the Glenmorangie Original, which is aged for ten years in ex-bourbon casks, and the Glenmorangie Signet, which is a unique blend of whiskies aged up to 40 years in a combination of different casks. In addition to its traditional single malt whiskies, Glenmorangie has also released several experimental and limited edition expressions, including the Private Edition range, which showcases innovative maturation techniques and unique cask finishes.

About the Glenmorangie 14 years The Elementa

Glenmorangie The Elementa is a 14-year-old single malt whisky made by Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain, Scotland. It is offered as part of the travel retail-exclusive Legends range, launched around 2019–2021. The whisky reflects Glenmorangie’s expertise in wood finishing, a technique the distillery helped pioneer over 30 years ago. Production begins with maturation in American ex bourbon barrels, followed by a finishing period in new charred American oak casks. The total ageing is 14 years. It is bottled at 43 % ABV and non chill filtered. No colouring is added except possible minimal natural cask influence. The whisky’s colour is pale golden amber. On the nose you may detect vanilla, honey, coconut, white chocolate, orange blossom oils, soft almond, and a hint of clove or nutmeg spice. The palate is balanced with crème brûlée sweetness, vanilla fudge, citrus curd, light ginger and pepper spice, and firm oak character. You may also notice baked peach or stone fruit, almond butter, and honeyed cereal notes. The finish is dry and oaky, with tannins, light bitterness and a warming spice that fades gently. Best known for winning a Gold medal in 2020 at the World Whiskies Awards in the 13 20 Year Highland single malt category, The Elementa has received praise for its wood-led profile and creative finishing technique. This whisky is suitable for drinkers who appreciate oak-driven flavour and moderate strength. It leans more toward spice and wood than sweet fruit. A splash of water can ease the drying oak and reveal hidden layers. Although it lacks wide awards compared to core Glenmorangie editions, it remains an interesting variation for those exploring travel retail exclusives or wood finish focused whiskies.
