Glendullan
William Williams, an Aberdeen blender and broker, built Glendullan in 1897 as the seventh distillery to rise in Dufftown, Speyside, Scotland. Success came fast. By 1902 the whisky was being supplied to King Edward VII by royal request, a rare honour for such a young distillery. A second distillery was built alongside the original in 1972, and the two ran together until the older site closed in 1985. Today Glendullan draws its water from the Conval Hill springs. Three wash stills and three spirit stills produce whisky mainly destined for Diageo's blends. Some of the spirit does reach drinkers unblended. Diageo bottles it as The Singleton of Glendullan, a fruity and approachable single malt made specifically for the American market.
