Facts

Glencadam has distilled in Brechin since 1825, and one quirk shapes everything in the glass. Its spirit stills wear lyne arms that tilt gently upwards, around fifteen degrees. That small angle sends heavier vapours falling back for a second pass. The result is a softer, cleaner spirit before the cask ever touches it. Here that spirit rests, then finishes in Oloroso sherry casks. You get a grassy, herbal lift over something rounder and richer beneath. It feels oily on the tongue, with a quiet floral note on the close. Pour it neat and let those layers unfold.

Glencadam

Glencadam Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. The Glencadam distillery uses traditional methods of production, including the use of wooden washbacks and copper pot stills, to create its distinctive single malt whisky. The distillery produces a range of different whiskies, including a 10-year-old expression and a 21-year-old expression. In 2003, the Glencadam distillery was mothballed due to a decline in demand for whisky. However, in 2008, the distillery was purchased by Angus Dundee Distillers and was reopened.

About the Glencadam 14 years Oloroso Sherry Finish

Glencadam 14 years Oloroso Sherry Finish is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from Scotland. It is made at the Glencadam distillery in Brechin, working quietly in this corner of the Highland since 1825. For a region full of famous names, Glencadam stays refreshingly low-key. The character begins at the stills, long before any cask. Glencadam runs its lyne arms pointing upwards at roughly fifteen degrees. That tilt pushes heavier vapours back down for another pass through the copper. The spirit that survives is lighter, cleaner and softer than most. It is a small detail, but it defines the whole house style. That gentle base is the point of this particular bottling. The malt matures first in the warehouse, then takes a finishing spell in Oloroso sherry casks. The sherry wood adds a rounder, deeper layer of flavour. Crucially, it never buries the bright spirit underneath. Expect a fresh, grassy opening with notes of cut hay and a dry, herbal lift. A faint floral edge runs through the nose and the early palate. The texture then turns oily and full, coating the mouth nicely. The Oloroso sherry brings gentle warmth and a soft, woody finish that lingers. Bottled at 46% and without chill filtration, Glencadam 14 years Oloroso Sherry Finish keeps its natural weight and colour. It suits drinkers who want a single malt with both freshness and body. Pour it neat in a tulip glass and give it a few minutes. This is the classic Glencadam style, simply dressed in sherry for darker evenings.
