Distillery
Glencadam Distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in the eastern Highlands of Scotland. The Glencadam distillery uses traditional methods of production, including the use of wooden washbacks and copper pot stills, to create its distinctive single malt whisky. The distillery produces a range of different whiskies, including a 10-year-old expression and a 21-year-old expression. In 2003, the Glencadam distillery was mothballed due to a decline in demand for whisky. However, in 2008, the distillery was purchased by Angus Dundee Distillers and was reopened.

Glencadam 10 Year Old is a Speysideish-style Highland single malt produced at Glencadam Distillery, located in Brechin, Angus. The distillery was founded in 1825 and stands apart from major whisky regions, offering a cleaner and lighter malt style. This whisky is matured for a decade in a mix of first-fill ex-bourbon American oak casks and refill American oak barrels. It is bottled at 46% ABV, non‑chill filtered, and includes no added colouring. The slightly higher ABV ensures a more rounded and flavorful experience. In the glass, it shows a pale gold or light amber colour. On the nose, expect fresh fruit aromas like green apple and pear, combined with honey, vanilla, and soft cereal notes. The overall impression is clean and inviting. On the palate, the whisky is light to medium-bodied. You’ll see barley sweetness, dried fruit such as apricot or raisin, soft oak spice, and touches of honey and biscuit cereal. The malt remains gentle and approachable. The finish is medium in length. It shows sweet honey and soft grain, fading to subtle oak dryness and light spice. The style remains delicate yet balanced. This whisky is suitable for drinkers looking for a light, easy-drinking malt that still offers subtle flavour. It works well neat, or with a drop of water to soften oak and reveal fruit and cereal notes. At a moderate price, it represents reliable Speyside-style whisky from a lesser-known Highland distillery.
