Facts

Billy Walker took the keys to Glenallachie in 2017. And this bottling shows why he is one of whisky's most respected names. He hand-selects each small batch from Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks. Then bottles it at full strength with no chill filtering and no added colour. The result is a deep, chewy dram packed with raisins & sultanas, dark chocolate and sticky honey. There is orange peel too, plus a warming kick of spice that lingers. Bottled at a punchy 57.8 percent, it rewards a slow, neat pour. It is bold, rich and made for unhurried sipping.

About the Glenallachie 10 years Cask Strength Batch 6

Glenallachie 10 years Cask Strength Batch 6 is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland. Made at the Glenallachie distillery near Aberlour, it is matured mainly in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry casks. Master Distiller Billy Walker hand-picks the casks for each release. This is the sixth batch in a celebrated cask strength series. Walker bought the distillery in 2017 and quickly turned it into one of Speyside's most talked-about names. His earlier batches set a high bar. Batch four was even named World's Best Single Malt at the 2021 World Whiskies Awards. That pedigree carries straight through to this release. The sherry casks do a lot of the heavy lifting here. Expect a rich wave of raisins & sultanas, dark chocolate and dried fruit. Sticky honey and orange peel round things out, while a layer of spice keeps it lively. A walnut note and a coffee bitterness add depth on the finish. It drinks with real weight and a long, warming close. Glenallachie 10 years Cask Strength Batch 6 is bottled at a hefty 57.8 percent. It is non-chill filtered and carries its natural colour, so nothing is stripped away. The texture stays oily and full across the palate. Each batch is limited, which makes this Glenallachie a sought-after pour for sherry-cask fans. Sip it neat to start. A few drops of water will gently open up the sweeter notes if you prefer. It is a brilliant showcase of Speyside sherry-cask whisky.
