Facts

The Spice Tree started as a quiet act of rebellion. John Glaser wanted more spice and richness. So he aged this blended malt with heavily toasted French oak in the casks. The regulators pushed back, and the first version was pulled. Glaser returned with a clever fix. He used French oak heads on top of American oak bodies, and the spice survived. You taste it straight away. Warm clove and cinnamon roll into ginger, nutmeg and soft vanilla, with a sweet, rounded body underneath. Pour it neat and let those baking spices unfold slowly in the glass.

Compass Box

Compass Box is an independent Scotch whisky bottler and blender based in London, founded by John Glaser in 2000. The company sources whisky from a variety of distilleries in Scotland, and then blends them to create unique and high-quality whiskies. Compass Box is known for its innovative approach to blending, using both traditional and modern techniques to create new flavour profiles. Their whiskies often feature a combination of malt and grain whiskies, and may be aged in a variety of casks, including sherry, bourbon, and French oak. In addition to their core range of whiskies, Compass Box also releases limited edition bottlings and collaborates with other companies to create special releases. The company has been at the forefront of the movement to increase transparency in the whisky industry. In 2016, they launched a campaign called "Transparency" that provides detailed information about the whiskies used in their blends, including the distilleries they come from and the ages of the whiskies used.

About the Compass Box Compass Box The Spice Tree

Compass Box Compass Box The Spice Tree is a blended malt Scotch whisky made by Compass Box in Scotland. It was built to taste boldly of spice, and it delivers exactly that from the first sip. The story behind this Scotland blend is part of its charm. Compass Box is an independent whisky blender, founded in 2000 by John Glaser. He launched The Spice Tree in 2005 with an unusual maturation idea. Heavily toasted French oak was used to push more flavour into the spirit. The authorities objected, and the original release had to be discontinued. Rather than give up, the team found a smarter route. They built hybrid casks using custom toasted French oak heads with American oak bodies. The French oak comes from old Vosges forest trees, slowly seasoned and deeply toasted. This is what gives The Spice Tree its signature character without breaking the rules. In the glass it leans into warm baking spice. Expect clove, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg, wrapped around sweet vanilla and a touch of oak. The body is full, round and gently sweet, so the spice never turns harsh. There is real depth here for a blended malt. This is a whisky for people who want flavour with a story. It drinks beautifully neat, where its spice and vanilla have room to breathe. It suits both curious newcomers and seasoned drinkers who enjoy a bolder, oak-driven style. Compass Box Compass Box The Spice Tree remains one of the most distinctive expressions Compass Box has ever made.
