In 1909, Chivas Brothers master blender Charles Stewart Howard did something no one had tried. He put a 25 year age statement on a blend. Then he sold it to New York society as a luxury whisky. Nothing like it existed at the time. The bottling later disappeared from shelves, and the house revived it in 2007. Strathisla in Keith still supplies the malt at its centre. What you get is quiet and unhurried. Vanilla, caramel, fresh orchard fruit and a thread of citrus lead the way. Cinnamon warms the middle. The finish fades slowly, sweet at first, with a trace of smoke.

Chivas Regal

Chivas Regal is a well-known brand of blended Scotch whisky, which was first introduced in 1801 by the Chivas Brothers, James and John. The company is currently owned by Pernod Ricard and is produced at the Strathisla Distillery in Keith, Scotland. Chivas Regal is known for its smooth and rich flavor profile, which is achieved by blending over 20 different single malt whiskies. The youngest whisky in the blend is aged for a minimum of 12 years, while some of the whiskies used can be as old as 50 years. The distinctive bottle design featuring a crest with a pair of stags is an iconic symbol of the brand. About the Chivas Regal 25 years Original

Chivas Regal 25 years Original is a blended Scotch whisky from Scotland, bottled at 40% ABV. Every whisky in the blend has spent at least 25 years in cask. The name points back to 1909, when the first bottling under this label carried a 25 year age statement. This is the modern version of that release. It sits at the top of the range, above the 12 and 18 year old blends. Charles Stewart Howard blended the original in 1909. He was master blender at Chivas Brothers. He built the whisky for wealthy drinkers in New York, and it sold fast. Nobody had put an aged luxury blend on the market before. The bottling later vanished, and Chivas Regal brought it back in 2007. Strathisla in Keith remains the heart of the blend. That Speyside distillery has anchored the house style since 1950. Vanilla and caramel meet the nose first. Citrus and fresh fruit sit just behind them. The palate turns brighter and leans towards tropical fruit. Spice builds underneath, and cinnamon gives the middle some grip. Sweetness runs through all of it without turning cloying. The finish goes back to vanilla and caramel, then thins out. A faint smoky edge trails after that. Nothing here shouts for attention. Age is the obvious difference. The younger blends in the range are everyday drams, built for volume. Chivas Regal 25 years Original uses only whiskies aged 25 years or more. Stocks that old are limited, so each release stays small. The extra years show up as texture rather than power. This bottling is rounder and less spicy than its siblings. Pour it neat and that difference is easy to find.
