Facts

Bruichladdich sits on the shore of Loch Indaal, an Islay distillery that famously left the peat behind. This bottling spent 21 long years quietly aging in American oak. Then it moved into rare Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, butts that once held thick, dark Spanish wine. The result is a sherry master class. You get rich cherry and raisins & sultanas, a swirl of milk chocolate, and a thread of treacle running underneath. Warm spice lifts the edges, with clove and cinnamon adding gentle heat. There is no smoke here. Just deep, fruity sweetness that lingers. Pour it neat and let it open.

About the Bruichladdich 21 years Cuvee 407 PX

Bruichladdich 21 years Cuvee 407 PX is an unpeated single malt Scotch whisky from Islay, Scotland. The Bruichladdich distillery sits on the western shore of Loch Indaal. It breaks the island's smoky reputation with a cleaner, fruit-led style. This expression matured for 21 years in American oak. It was then finished in rare Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Those butts once held ultra-rich Spanish sherry made from the Pedro Ximenez grape. That long finish gives the whisky its dark, syrupy heart. It is the third release in the distillery's Cuvee range. It sits alongside Bordeaux Sauternes and Cognac cask bottlings. Bottled at 46% and left un-chill-filtered. Bruichladdich 21 years Cuvee 407 PX keeps its natural texture and oily weight. On the nose you find rich cherry, dried fruit, and a deep sherry note. The palate turns to raisins & sultanas and chocolate. Milk chocolate softens the spice. Treacle and dark fruit build toward a long, warming close. Spice threads through it all. Black pepper, cinnamon, and clove add lift without harshness. Floral hints of lavender keep it bright. This is a sweet, fruity Islay malt with no peat smoke at all. This is a whisky built for slow evenings. The long ageing gives it a deep colour and a soft, rounded texture. Each sip reveals another layer of dried fruit and spice. For lovers of sherried single malt Scotch whisky, this Islay bottling is a rare treat. Enjoy it neat in a tulip glass. Let the long finish linger on the tongue.
