Facts

Ardbeg has stood on the south coast of Islay since 1815. Drawing its water from the dark Loch Uigeadail above the distillery. The peat here is famous. It gives this old single malt a deep, earthy smoke that never lets go. Yet two decades of patient ageing have softened the edges. Bright fruit slips through the char, with peach. Pineapple and a touch of honey rising above the seaweed and sea salt. There is grass, floral lift and a warming line of cinnamon and pepper. Pour it neat and let the smoke and fruit slowly unfold together.

Ardbeg

Ardbeg distillery is located on the southern coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland. It was founded in 1815 and has been producing some of the world's most highly regarded Islay single malt whiskies ever since. Ardbeg uses traditional malted barley, Scottish water, and peat to produce its signature smoky and peaty flavors. The distillery uses malted barley that is heavily peated to around 55 parts per million (ppm) phenols, which gives its whiskies a distinct and powerful flavor. Interesting fact: In 2011, Ardbeg sent vials of its whisky to the International Space Station to study the effects of microgravity

About the Ardbeg 24 years

Ardbeg 24 years is a heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky from the Ardbeg distillery on Islay, Scotland. Sitting on the island's rugged south coast since 1815, Ardbeg draws its water from Loch Uigeadail in the hills above. Islay peat shapes everything that follows. After twenty-four years in cask, the spirit carries great depth while keeping its smoky, peaty heart. The nose opens with earthy peat and char before turning sweeter. Fresh fruit lifts through the smoke, showing nectarine, peach and papaya. Honey and a malty warmth sit underneath. Beneath it all runs the coastal Islay signature of sea salt and seaweed. This is a whisky that rewards slow, careful attention. On the palate the long years show their work. The smoke turns oily and rounded, threaded with pineapple and bright tropical fruit. Black tea and a grassy, floral note keep things lively. Cinnamon and pepper bring gentle heat to the finish. The peaty smoke lingers, salted by the sea air that surrounds the distillery. The Ardbeg distillery has a fierce reputation among Islay whisky lovers. It is one of the most heavily peated names in Scotland, prized for smoke balanced by sweetness. An age statement of twenty-four years is rare and special here. Time in oak tames the young fire without losing the distillery's bold character. This is a single malt to savour neat, poured slowly and given room to breathe. Ardbeg 24 years suits anyone who loves big Islay smoke with real complexity. Each sip moves between peat, fruit and salt. It is a serious dram for patient drinkers who want depth, age and that unmistakable Ardbeg fire.
